New Students Check Out Northwest Clubs

Looking for something to do between homework and texting your friends? Then join a club. All freshmen and new ravens will have the chance to join a club inspired by the passions and interests of previous students on Sept- 8 during seminar one in the Flex Theater.

No one should miss out on such a golden opportunity, since joining a club gives you a chance to not only put down another precious extra-curricular activity (which colleges love!) on your resume, but also to meet new people who have the same interests as you.

Plus, students that are involved with their school show tendencies to perform academically better, and get higher grades than students that don’t have any connections at all. Besides, who wants to slave over social studies homework all day? Clubs give you a chance to relate school with something besides loss of sleep and loads of work.

Mrs. Krista Dueringer, the teacher in charge of putting together the Club Fair, helped to decide on this system and explained it’s purpose as, “We really feel that every student at ONW needs to get involved in something and we felt this was a good way to let students know what is available. My goal would be for every freshman and every new student to choose at least one club to join.”

When the Club Fair is up and running, all freshmen and new students will find that every offered club, activity, and even some sports, will have their own table set up to hand out information to those who are interested. So for any new student or freshmen that wants to be involved here at Northwest, give the Club Fair a chance, sign up for something that appeals to you, and make your mark on this school year.
