Olathe Northwest will be running the very first Health and Fitness Fair at Meadow Lane Elementary School on February 2. Raven Service Club has teamed up with Raven Flight Core and members of the cheerleading and dance teams to teach the students the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Service Club sponsor, Annie Winkler, is very instrumental in laying the groundwork for this special day.
“This year our Area1 project with the Kansas Association for Youth was to focus on health, so our senior President Madison Cohen and our senior Vice President Lindsey Poulter had this great idea to do a fitness fair at Meadow Lane. Bryan Lowe, the principal there, is so excited to be apart of this great day,” Winkler said.

As far as expectations go, Señora Winkler is hoping to make a lasting impact on the Meadow Lane youth.
“My expectations are that the youth become more conscious of taking care of themselves, eating good food and exercising and how important it is to stay active and this fair will benefit all the students at Meadow Lane Elementary,” Winkler said.
While the students are participating in the various fitness activities, the teachers will be getting a surprise of their own.
“We are redoing the teachers lounge as a surprise for them, they don’t know it, but we’re going to do an extreme home makeover and we’re really going to spruce it up,” Winkler said.
It will be the passion of the ONW student body to help make this fitness day a great success. Not only is the student body excited to be apart of this day, but Señora Winkler is just as enthusiastic for the outcome of this event.
“I’m just really excited because there are so many Ravens that are involved in this day, and it’s awesome to have our student body take an interest in promoting health and fitness and first of all and just doing a community service like this. It’s going to be an awesome day that I’m really looking forward to it,” Winkler said.
