Awards, a 36, and a Presidential Scholar!

Congratulations to FIRST Robotics Team 1710

FIRST Robotics Team 1710 won the Spirit Award and Safety Award at the World Championships in St. Louis last weekend!

Congratulations to Sumner Holtzman – Perfect 36

Sumner Holtzman, son of Kendra Holtzman and Steve Holtzman, has received a perfect 36 on his ACT.  Sumner is a junior at Olathe Northwest.  Sumner is in the Aerospace and Engineering Program where he works as the Junior Financial Officer of the FIRST Robotics team and as the Lead Engineer of the FIRST Tech Challenge Team.  Sumner is also a Link Crew Leader, National Honors Society Member, and involved in his church.  Less than 1% of all students nationwide achieve this score.

Congratulations to Nick Rodriquez – US Presidential Scholar

Nicolas Rodriguez, son of Luis Rodriguez and Skye Nguyen, has been named a US Presidential Scholar.  Nicolas is an Olathe Northwest Senior in the Aerospace and Engineering Program.  US Presidential Scholars are comprised of one man and one woman from each state based on academic success, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.  As a US Presidential Scholar, Nicolas will travel to Washington, D.C. in June to receive his honor.  Nicolas will continue his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall.
