Olathe Northwest Cheerleading places an emphasis on game day and competition. Therefore, cheerleaders are required to perform both at games and competitions and value both of these things equally. The purpose of an Olathe Northwest cheerleader is to develop positive school spirit and good sportsmanship to promote student body involvement at events. As a potential member, you will be expected to demonstrate, develop and elicit qualities of a team member, and perform at a level of excellence/precision to be a source of pride to the school, team, and yourself. You will maintain high visibility and be a positive role model. You will promote school showmanship by participating in competitions and investing in school events. As an Olathe Northwest cheerleader, you will be a strong and competitive athlete that promotes positive leadership.

Tryout Applications
Applications are due to Brittany Burdolski at Olathe Northwest by March 2nd, 2018.

Tryout Clinics
March 20-22, 2018  |  Olathe Northwest Main Gym  |   6-8:30 pm

March 23rd, 2018  |  Olathe Northwest  |  3:30 pm – ?

Things to remember:

  • You must attend all of the three clinics for attendance points.
  • Be on time.
  • Proper attire: solid blue or black t-shirt, solid blue or black shorts, tennis shoes or cheer shoes, no show white socks.
  • Proper hair: hair pulled back and in a pony tail with a bow.
  • No jewelry or gum.

Tryout Requirements:

  • Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student at Olathe Northwest for the entire school year.
  • If transferring the candidate must have an approved transfer on file and be enrolled for the 2018-2019 school year.
  • Candidates must have a 2.5 GPA.
  • Candidates must have passed all classes in the 1st semester of 2017-2018.
  • Candidates must be passing all current classes to be eligible.
  • Candidates must turn in a Tryout Application and Permission Form by March 2nd.
  • Candidates must attend ALL of the three tryout clinics for attendance points: March 20, 21, 22.
  • Clinics and tryouts are closed sessions.
  • During the clinic, you will be taught the dance, cheer, jumps and chant used for evaluation.
  • Each candidate will be required to perform 2 single jumps: a toe touch and a pike.
  • The candidate will be required to perform a triple jump combo: left front hurdler, right front hurdler, toe touch. 
  • Candidates will tryout individually at tryout stations.
  • Candidates must have paid any previous cheerleading balance prior to tryouts.
