Team 1710 had an amazing showcase to finish off the 2012 build season. All of our team’s leadership spoke well today, sharing their feelings about FIRST and how far we’ve come this year, and really inspired everyone in the crowd. The parents, mentors, and sponsors got to have a sneak peek of the finished product that is 1710. Despite technical difficulties, we pulled through and managed to unveil our robot and animation, while thanking everyone who has made Team 1710 into what it is now.
One of the most exciting things was the long-anticipated announcement of Dean’s List and Woodie Flower’s award candidates. Cyrus Duong was 1710’s junior candidate for Dean’s List, demonstrating exceptional skill, knowledge, and dedication to the team. Connor Weeks was our senior candidate, and he’s been with us every step of the way, inspiring us and leading by example. For the Woodie Flower’s award, Jean “Mama Jaws” Melech was chosen as our candidate for her 850+ hours of mentoring she has given the team, even while juggling three businesses.
We appreciate all the help that everyone has given us and made us successful. Special thanks go out to long-time mentor Mr. Mike Brouwer for organizing the 2012 Showcase. It took a lot of work and preparation, but it paid off in the end!
