Republican nomination approaching

Rick Santorum is surging in the polls

Now that it is the 2012, the race for the Republican Presidential nomination is heating up swiftly.  It is now a four-man race; including Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich. Mitt Romney, the former Governor of Massachusetts, leads the race. However, the former Senator of Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum, is quickly gaining steam. In fact, the polls even have Santorum overtaking Romney in his home state of Michigan, and a loss there for Romney would indicate that Santorum has taken the lead in the GOP race. Newt Gingrich, the former Georgia representative, is third in the race. Ron Paul, the Texas congressman; much to the dismay of his zealous supporters is currently fourth in the race. The candidates run on vastly different platforms: Romney pushes for economic opportunity, Santorum advocates for social conservatism, Paul preaches personal liberty, and Gingrich claims that he is smarter than everyone else. These next few weeks will make—or break— the candidates. The Arizona and Michigan primaries will take place on February 28, with 59 delegates on the time. Keep an eye out these next few days.
