ONW Summer Blood Drive

The Olathe Northwest (ONW) Student Council hosted their annual blood drive last Thursday in order to help save lives.

The blood drive ended up being a huge success, with more than 100 people showing up to donate. Kate Miner, a member of the board, explains why this is so important for the community. “Kansas City alone goes through 500 pints of blood transfusions a day, so what little we can do to help I think it’s really important that we do.” She’s not the only one who believes that this is the right thing to do. Sophia Saunders, a student at ONW, explains why donating means so much to her. “I want to make an impact in people’s lives, one pint of blood can save up to three people’s lives and I want to give back to my community.”

Overall, not a bad day for ONW. If you missed this blood drive, don’t worry. The student council will be hosting another in the fall.
