Renaissance Festival 2017

Located just 15 minutes and 500 years from downtown KC in Bonner Springs, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival is celebrating its 41st annual Season this year. It is open every weekend from September 2nd to October 15th and allows residents from all around to enjoy an escape to the days of the past. At the festival visitors can expect to find handmade wooden, metal, and leather items available for purchase, as well as costumes and food. Many stages are set up around the venue with musicians, magic, and comedy.

Multiple times a day, visitors can head to the jousting track to see a performance with mounted and foot combat between the Honorable Sir Duncan and the False Knight Baldur. Talk to one of the performers walking around the area and you’ll their personal story, fit for the age. Every weekend has a theme like Pirates or Family Fun Weekend. The weekend of the 16th is Ales and Tails, where visitors are encouraged to bring their canine companions for special food, a parade, and dog costumes.

For the entire season, bring 5 non-perishable food items to the Harvesters’ truck at the gate to receive Buy One Get One on Adult tickets. To get hands on with some of the happenings, head towards the King’s Gate for knife, ninja star, and hatchet throwing, as well as archery and a ‘Throne of Swords’, no copyright infringement intended there, of course.
